Introducing your Saginaw Country Club Tennis Team
This is a team of tennis professionals who have been trained as leaders.
They are dynamic and committed, energetic and enthusiastic. Their mission is to make SCC/MCTC tennis a very big success with a reputation that draws new membership interest and establishes a strong tennis image for the SCC.
Experienced with diagnostic skills and instructional remedies, diverse programming, lessons and events for all ages and skill levels, your SCC Tennis Team offers our famous Excellent Tennis Adventure to everyone who’s ready to bring the hustle, get noisy and have fun, while playing the game that will capture you for a lifetime.
Team Leader
Sharon Cleland, USPTA, is Director of Tennis at the SCC and Director of Tennis at the MCTC.
Sharon has been instrumental in the Development of the MCTC Tennis Brand: Play to Win; served on the USTA’s National Committee to create QuickStart Tennis for 10 and under; served on the USTA’s National Committee to develop juniors’ tennis with former Davis Cup Captain Patrick McEnroe and other USTA executives. Sharon is a USTA National Trainer for 10 and under tennis, consistent presenter at national conferences, USTA Midwest Rookie of the Year in 2006, and 2009 Ruby Award Winner as well as a certified USTA High Performance Tennis Professional.
Among her current assignments is outreach throughout the region to spread the MCTC Brand. A top ranked junior in South Africa, Sharon was graduated from Montana State University at Bozeman. She holds a Master’s Degree in sports psychology. She joined the MCTC staff in 2001.
Head Tennis Professional
Jenn Boehm is your new Head Professional for SCC Tennis.
Jenn Boehm has established an outstanding record at the MCTC, developing leagues to high levels of participation; managing the middle school tennis program and growing Cardio Tennis to national prominence recognized by the USTA.
Additionally, Jenn is the new Head Coach of the SVSU Lady Cardinals Tennis Team, the first woman and former player to hold this position. A member of the MCTC staff since 2005, Jenn played four years of tennis at the university, graduating in 2003 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree. She recently married J.J Boehm, SVSU administrator.
Jenn serves on the Management Team of our award-winning MCTC and makes important contributions across the board, driving our tennis brand “Play To Win” to new markets.
Tennis Professional
Dustin Robinson returns to the SCC Tennis Program this summer with his dynamic personality, an asset on any court anytime. Dustin did an outstanding job with youngsters last summer.
Expect big growth in this area. Dustin has added Cardio Tennis and events to his duties and is quickly becoming one of our rising prospects in tennis instruction at the MCTC.
He played tennis at Spring Arbor College, before joining the MCTC staff in 2006.
Tennis Professional
John Veit is a seasoned and successful tennis professional at both the teaching and leadership levels.
Over the last eight years, John became well known in the Ann Arbor tennis community for tripling the Chippewa Tennis Club’s Junior Program; coaching two state championships at Ann Arbor Huron, and reviving the tennis program the Ann Arbor Country Club where he was Director of Tennis.
Prior to his coaching career, John was a member of the MCTC staff about 10 years ago where he became the nation’s youngest Certified Racquet Technician.
He was graduated from Ferris State University’s Professional Tennis Management Program with a full academic tennis scholarship. And authored a training program, “3D Tennis: Seeing and Playing the Game In A New Dimension.
John has trained more than 30 adult travel teams in four states, and developed over 20 players who went on to compete at the collegiate level. His instruction is full of passion, articulation and insight, attributes that highlight his relentlessly encouraging approach, enabling empowering tennis for everyone. He is married with three children.
It’s time for the SCC/MCTC Tennis Partnership to go to the next level of excellence. That’s the mission of you’re A-Team this summer.
