BYLAWS
Section 1. The name of this Club shall be Saginaw Country Club, Inc., referred to hereinafter as the Club.
Section 2. The location of the Club shall be Gratiot Avenue, Saginaw Township, Saginaw, Michigan.
Section 3. The Club shall have an appropriate corporate seal.
Section 4. The object of the Club is to promote and encourage the game of golf and kindred activities. The Club shall have the authority to buy, sell, mortgage, pledge and deal generally in such real and personal property as may be necessary or convenient in the furtherance of such object. Section 1. Officers and Board of Governors
The business and property of the Club shall be managed and controlled by the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors shall not incur any indebtedness which cannot reasonably be expected to be discharged from the anticipated cash resources of the Club for the current year without first receiving authority to do so by a majority vote of the members present at a members’ meeting.
Section 2. Election of Governors
The Board of Governors shall consist of nine Class A members, or their spouse, three of whom shall be elected each year at the annual members’ meeting for a term of three years commencing January 1 of the year following their election.
Section 3. Election of Officers
Officers of the Club shall be elected from among the Governors and at a meeting of the Board of Governors to be held after the annual members’ meeting and prior to January 1 of the year immediately following such meeting. Only those Governors who shall serve as Governors after January 1 shall be entitled to vote for the officers. The officers shall consist of a President, a Vice President, a Treasurer and a Secretary. The term of office for each officer shall be for one year commencing January 1 of the year immediately following the election of officers.
Section 4. Removal of Governors
The Board of Governors, by two-thirds affirmative vote of the entire Board, may remove any member of the Board of Governors whenever in its judgment the best interests of the Club will be served thereby.
Section 5. Vacancies
Should any vacancy in the Board of Governors occur, for any reason, between successive annual members’ meetings, the remaining Governors shall elect, by majority vote of the entire Board, a Class A member, or spouse, as a substitute Governor to fill such vacancy. ARTICLE III
DUTIES AND POWERS OF THE OFFICERS & GOVERNORS
Section 1. President
The President shall preside at all meetings of the membership of the Club, and at all meetings of the Board of Governors, sign all stock certificates, sign all contracts to which the Club is a party, perform such other duties as shall be prescribed by the Board of Governors, and serve as a member ex-officio of all committees.
Section 2. Vice-President
The Vice-President shall perform the duties of the President when the President is absent or is unable to perform. The Vice-President shall also perform such other duties as shall be prescribed by the Board of Governors or the President.
Section 3. Past President
The immediate Past President shall serve on the Board of Governors as a regular member thereof until the conclusion of the term for which he was elected a Governor. In the event such term expires at the conclusion of his term of office, he shall, unless impracticable, serve on the Board of Governors for the immediately following year as a nonvoting exofficio member and perform such duties as may be assigned by the Board of Governors.
Section 4. Treasurer
(a) The Treasurer shall have responsibility for and keep account of all money, funds and property of the club, unless otherwise determined by the Board of Governors, and shall render such accounts and present such statements to the Governors and President as may be required. The Treasurer shall deposit all funds of the Club in such bank or banks as the Board of Governors may designate. The Treasurer shall keep the Club’s bank accounts in the name of the Club, and shall exhibit the Club’s books and accounts at all reasonable times to any Governor of the Club during business hours. The Treasurer shall pay out money as the business may require upon the order of the properly constituted officer or officers of the Club, taking proper vouchers therefore, provided however, that the Board of Governors shall have power by resolution to delegate any of the duties of the Treasurer to other officers or agents, and to provide by what officers or agents if any, all bills, notes, checks, vouchers, orders or other instruments shall be countersigned.
(b) The Treasurer’s accounts shall be audited annually by no later than the date of the next succeeding annual members’ meeting by an Independent Certified Public Accountant appointed by the Board of Governors.
(c) The Treasurer shall perform, in addition, such duties as may be delegated by the Board of Governors or the President.
Section 5. Secretary
The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings of the Club and of its Board of Governors. The Secretary shall keep the stock book and the seal of the Club and shall co-sign, with the President, the Stock certificates and perform such other duties as usually pertain to the Secretary’s office. The Secretary shall also keep an accurate record of the names and addresses of all members of the Club and in addition, perform such other duties as may be delegated by the Board of Governors or the President.
Section 6. Board of Governors
(a) The Board of Governors may appoint such other officers and agents as it may deem necessary for the transaction of the business of the Club. All such other officers and agents shall respectively serve for such term and have such authority and perform such duties in the management of the property and affairs of the Club, as may be designated by the Board of Governors.
(b) The Board of Governors may secure the fidelity of all officers and agents by bond or otherwise.
(c) The Board of Governors may from time to time promulgate such rules and regulations as it shall deem appropriate governing and limiting the use of the Club facilities by members and their guests.
(d) The interpretation of Bylaws, rules and regulations shall rest with the Board of Governors.
(e) The Board of Governors, by two-third affirmative vote of the entire Board, shall have the authority to censure, suspend or expel any member for any conduct deemed improper or prejudicial to the best interests of the Club.
(f) Should the Board of Governors receive a petition signed by ten or more members to censure, suspend, or expel any member for conduct deemed improper or prejudicial to the best interest of the club, the Board shall act upon such petition in accordance with Article III Section 5: (e). ARTICLE IV
MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
Section 1. Meetings
(a) Regular - A regular meeting of the Board of Governors shall be held once each month at a time fixed by the President.
(b) Special - Special meetings of the Board of Governors may be called at any time by the President or may be called on the written request of any two members of the Board of Governors.
Section 2. Notices
Governors shall be notified in writing of the time, place and purpose of all meetings of the Board of Governors at least five days prior to the meeting. Any governor shall, however, waive such notice by his attendance at such meeting.
Section 3. Quorum
The presence of five (5) members of the Board of Governors at a regular or special meeting shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

Section 1. Committees
(a) The standing committees of the Club shall be the following: House Committee, Golf and Games Committee, Green and Grounds Committee, Budget and Finance Committee, Long-Range Planning Committee, Social Committee and the Membership Committee, Pool, Tennis and Fitness Center Committee. The President shall, with approval of the Board of Governors, create such other committees as he/she may deem desirable for the proper conduct of the business and social activities of the Club.
(b) The President shall appoint the chairperson of each of the committees.
(i) Chairpersons of the standing committees will be appointed from the Board of Governors.
(ii) Chairpersons of other committees shall be members of the Club.
(c) The President of the Board of Governors shall be an ex-officio member of each committee.
Section 2. Members of Committees
(a) Each of the standing committees shall consist of, in addition to the Chairperson, at least three (3) other members; and each of the other committees shall consist of such numbers as the President of the Club shall deem necessary to carry out the objectives of said committee. The members of the committees may be any Class A or B member or spouse. Each member of a committee is entitled to one (1) vote on all matters coming before said committee.

ARTICLE VI
MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS
Section 1. Annual Meeting
(a) There shall be an annual members’ meeting of the members of the Club for the election of a Board of Governors and for such other business as may properly come before it. The meeting shall be held subsequent to October 1st, but not later than December 1st, at the discretion of the Board of Governors.
(b) On all matters voted upon at the annual meeting, including the election of the Board of Governors, each Class A member shall have one (1) vote and each class B member shall have one-third (1/3) of one (1) vote.
(c) Except in the circumstances of Article VI, Sec. 1 (d)(i), the members of the Board of Governors of the Club shall be elected by secret ballot at the annual meeting.
(d) Procedure for the nomination of candidates for the Board of Governors:
(i) The Chairperson of the Nominating Committee shall be the immediate past president, and six (6) other members selected by the current Board of Governors, with not more than two (2) being current Board members. The nominating committee shall recommend at least one (1) Class A member for each Governor to be elected at the annual meeting. Only one member from each Class A family can serve at a time on the Board.
(ii) The names of the members of the Nominating Committee shall he posted in three conspicuous places in the Clubhouse and said notice shall invite Class A members who are interested in serving on the Board of Governors to so notify a member or members of the Nominating Committee.
(iii) Not less than forty-five (45) days prior to the date of the annual meeting, the Nominating Committee shall select its candidates for the Board of Governors and shall immediately thereafter post a list of said candidates in three (3) conspicuous places in the Club.
(iv) Not less than thirty (30) days prior to the date of the annual meeting, nominations may be made by any qualified Class A member or himself/herself as a candidate for governor by petition, signed by not less than twenty (20) Class A members in good standing and submitted to the President or Secretary along with written acceptance of the nominee. A member shall not sign more than three (3) petitions, and if the same name appears on more than three (3) petitions, all of the petitions signed by such member shall be invalidated.
(v) If, on the day of the annual meeting the candidates for the Board of Governors consist only of those members who were nominated by the Nominating Committee, the President shall declare those members to have been elected Governors.
(vi) At least fifteen (15) days before the date of the annual meeting, the Secretary shall mail, to the Club members, a list of candidates so nominated by either the Nominating Committee or by the members.
(e) On the day of the annual meeting, the President shall appoint five (5) members to be inspectors and tellers. Such members must be present at the meeting and shall not be candidates for the Board of Governors, nor current members thereof. Such inspectors and tellers shall provide a ballot box for the reception of ballots for one hour preceding the stated hour at which the annual meeting is to commence. Upon the expiration of the hour, such inspectors and tellers shall count the ballots, cast and report the result to the President, who shall announce the result to the members. The candidates receiving the largest number of votes shall be elected Governors.
Section 2. Special Meetings
Special meetings of the members of the Club shall be called by the President at the request of the Board of Governors or upon the written request of forty (40) members in good standing presented to the Secretary.
Section 3. Notice
Written notice of any members’ meeting shall be mailed to each member at his/her last known address, as the name appears on the stock book of the Club, or the membership roster, or otherwise, at least fifteen (15) days prior to any meeting, and any notice of special meeting shall indicate briefly the object or objects thereof.
Section 4. Voting
(a) Any member may vote on all questions and in all elections in person, or by absentee ballot, filed with the Secretary prior to the convening of meeting.
(b) Proxy voting is not permitted.
(c) With each notice of a members’ meeting, there shall be included an application for an absentee ballot. Any member who desires an absentee ballot shall deliver his/her completed application, either in person or by mail, addressed to the Secretary of the Club, whereupon an absentee ballot shall be handed to the member or mailed to him/her at his/her last known address, or to such other address as may be specified in the application. Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the secretary, or his/her designated representative, no later than 1 hour prior to the members’ meeting.
(d) One or more of the tellers shall be designated by the President to handle the absentee ballots and they shall be charged to maintain inviolate the secrecy of the absentee ballot and to insure that no person votes both in person and by absentee ballot.
(e) Absentee ballots will be accepted up to scheduled start time of a member meeting. The inspectors and tellers, by majority vote, shall have final authority to determine whether or not an absentee ballot is to be counted or not counted.
Section 5. Quorum
Twenty (20) members of the Club shall constitute a quorum at all members’ meetings. [ ... back to top - bylaws ... ]
Section 1. Certificates
Certificates of stock shall be issued in such forms as shall be adopted by the Board of Governors and shall be signed by the President or Vice-President and Secretary of the Club. The name and address of the person owning the stock, and the date of issue shall be entered on the books of the Club.
Section 2. Shares per Member
No member shall control or own more than one (1) share of stock.
Section 3. Transfers
Any Class A member may sell or transfer his stock at private sale, subject to the following:
(a) The Club shall have the first right and option to purchase such stock for a period of fifteen (15) days following receipt of written intention of resignation, for an amount designated by the selling Class A member. If the Club does not exercise its option to purchase, the provisional resignor has the following options:
1. Surrender his/her stock certificate, endorsed in blank, upon payment to him/her by the Club of the par value of the stock, thereby waiving all other claims to any portion of his member’s equity. The member’s obligation for dues shall cease on the first day of the month following the receipt by the Club of his/her stock certificate. The Club then may sell or retire such stock, at the discretion of the Board of Governors. Should the Club sell the stock within one year following the date of it’s surrender, the proceeds of the sale shall be applied first toward the amount of monthly assessments accrued to the share of stock from the first day of the month following the date of resignation, to the last day of the month in which stock is sold and second, toward the payment of any indebtedness, plus interest, at the highest prevailing lawful rate. Thereafter, any excess shall be remitted to the resigned member. Any indebtedness in excess of the proceeds from the sale of such stock shall remain a liability of the resigned member.
2. Submit the name of a candidate for Class A membership and a letter which informs the Club of the proposed transfer of stock to such candidate.
(b) Upon election to Class A membership of such candidate, or any other candidate who subscribes for the resigning member’s stock, and upon the transfer of such stock to such candidate, the resigning member shall not be responsible for any future dues or assessments, but the stock will not be transferred until all of the resigning member’s indebtedness to the Club is paid.
Section 4. Death of a Class A Member
(a) In the event of the death of a Class A member whose stock is, by order of the appropriate Court or otherwise, transferred to a beneficiary of said deceased member, and if such transferee is a person who is qualified under these Bylaws to hold such stock as a Class A member, then upon payment to the Club of any applicable fees, said stock shall be reissued in the name of said beneficiary in accordance with Article VII of these Bylaws.
(b) If the stock of said deceased Class A member is sold by the decedent’s estate, or is transferred to a person who is not eligible to be a Class A member, then the estate of the deceased member shall continue to be responsible for the payment of all dues, assessments and other indebtedness in the same manner as the deceased member would have been responsible. ARTICLE VIII
MEMBERSHIP, ENTRANCE FEES AND DUES
Section 1. Election of Members
(a) Candidates for membership in any classification shall be proposed by not less than two members (Class A or Class B). The member, or the spouse, shall submit a written recommendation. An application for membership must be signed by the applicant. The names and addresses of all candidates for membership, together with the names of the qualified proposer recommending them, shall be posted either on the bulletin board at the Club, or by mailing to the membership at least seven days before being finally voted upon by the Board of Governors.
(b) The Board of Governors shall act upon candidates’ properly prepared applications for membership, in the order of their presentation to the Secretary, at any regular meeting, or at any special meeting called for any purpose. All candidates for membership shall be elected by the Board of Governors by ballot. Two negative votes shall exclude any candidate. If any candidate shall not, within thirty (30) days after notice of the candidate’s election shall have been sent to the candidate’s post office address, signify acceptance and, in the instance of Class A membership the purchase of a share of stock of the Club or his/her intention to make such purchase forthwith, the candidacy shall be deemed to have been forfeited.
Section 2. Classes of Membership
The membership of the Club consists of Class A or Class B membership.
Section 3. Class A Membership
(a) Class A membership shall consist of not more than three hundred and fifteen persons.
(b) Only persons, twenty-one (21) or more years of age, may be elected to Class A membership.
(c) Each Class A member shall own one (1) share of common stock of the Club, and only a Class A member can have any right, title or interest in or to the property or assets of the Club. Only Class A members, or their spouse, shall be entitled to hold office.
(d) Class A members and their families, including unmarried children under the age of twenty-one (21) living with the member, shall be entitled to the use of all club facilities. The use of all club facilities shall be extended to a Class A member’s unmarried children under the age of twenty-five (25) enrolled full time in a college or university or on active duty with the Armed Forces of the United States.
(e) The surviving spouse of a Class A member shall have the same privileges and obligations as any Class A member, as long as said spouse shall retain the deceased member’s share of stock.
Section 4. Class B Membership
(a) Class B Membership shall consist of the following categories:
(1) Family - available to the head of a family and shall include unmarried children under the age of twenty-one (21) living with the member, and also shall include unmarried children under the age of twenty-five (25) enrolled full time in a college or university or on active duty with the armed forces of the United States. Limitation of family memberships shall be at the discretion of the Board of Governors. Family members shall be entitled to the use of all Club facilities other than the golf course.
(2) Senior - available to any member or spouse seventy (70) years of age and who was an owner of Common Stock of the Club for not less than twenty-five years prior to applying for Senior Membership. Senior members shall have the same privileges as Class A members as set forth in Article VIII, Section 3 (d). A senior member may not own common stock. Disposal of stock will be in accordance with Article VII, Section 3 of the bylaws. Eligibility for Senior membership will be on the first day of the month in which the member reaches his or her 70th birthday. Dues and assessments are to be pro-rated on a monthly basis.
(2.1)Senior Single – available to any unmarried member who on or before December 31, 2008: Is seventy (70) years of age and was an owner of Common Stock of the club for not less than twenty-five years prior to applying for Single Social Membership or is the widow, or widower, of a member who qualified as a Senior member described in Section 4(a)(2). Single Senior members shall have the same privileges as Class A members as set forth in Article VIII, Section 3 (d). A Single Senior member may not own common stock.
(3) Single Social - available only to unmarried persons twenty-one (21) or more years of age. A single social member shall have the use of all club facilities other than the golf course.
(4) Non-resident - available to persons who do not own or rent a residence in Saginaw County. The number of members in this category shall be subject to the discretion of the Board of Governors. Non-resident members shall have the same privileges as Class A members as set forth in Article VIII, Section 3 (d).
(5) Honorary - available to spouses of deceased former Presidents of the Club. Upon remarriage by the surviving spouse, the Honorary membership shall terminate.
This class of membership is also available to any other past or present member who has rendered outstanding service to the Club as approved by the Board of Governors. Upon the death of the honorary member, all privileges associated with the membership shall terminate.
An honorary member shall have the use of all Club facilities, shall not be obligated for dues or assessments, or minimum charges and need not own common stock of the Club.
(6) Clergy - available to ordained ministers, priests and rabbis. Clergy members shall have the same privileges as Class A members as set forth in Article VIII, Section 3 (d).
(7) Junior Golf - available to single persons who have attained the age of twenty-one (21) years and who have not yet attained the age of thirty-five (35).
This class of membership is also available to a married person who has attained the age of twenty-one (21) years and who has not yet attained the age of thirty-five (35). In determining the age of a married person, the age of the oldest spouse (whether or not the oldest spouse is the applicant) shall prevail in determining whether the married applicant is eligible for membership.
Dues and assessments will be pro-rated on a monthly basis. The number of members in this category shall be subject to the discretion of the Board of Governors. Junior members shall have the same privileges as Class A members as set forth in Article VIII, Section 3 (d).
(8) Junior Social - available to single persons who have attained the age of twenty-one (21) years and who have not yet attained the age of thirty-five (35). Junior Social members shall be entitled to the use of all Club facilities other than the golf course.
This class of membership is also available to a married person who has attained the age of twenty-one years (21) and who has not yet attained the age of thirty-five (35). In determining the age of a married person, the age of the oldest spouse (whether or not the oldest spouse is the applicant) shall prevail in determining whether the married applicant is eligible for membership. Junior Family social members shall be entitled to the use of all Club facilities other than the golf course.
Conversion to Class A or Family Social membership will be completed on the first day of the month in which either the member, or the member’s spouse, reaches their 35th birthday.
(9) Ladies Golf - no longer available. This membership classification was formerly available only to unmarried ladies twenty-one (21) or more years of age. A ladies golfing member shall have the use of all Club facilities. This membership shall terminate upon the marriage of the ladies golfing member.
Section 5. Annual Dues, Special Assessments and Fees
The amount and manner of payment of annual dues and special assessments for each membership classification, and all fees, shall be determined by the Board of Governors. [ ... back to top - bylaws ... ]
Section 1. Indebtedness to the Club
(a) Payment of each statement of indebtedness to the Club is payable on or before the due date, which is no later than the last day of the month in which the statement was submitted.
(b) Should a member remain in arrears for any indebtedness past the due date, notice requiring immediate payment shall be mailed to said member.
(c) Should a member remain in arrears for any indebtedness for more than 30 days past the due date, said member’s credit at the Club, as well as the member’s use of the Club facilities, shall be suspended until such time as the entire arrearage is paid in full. The member’s name and the amount of the arrearage may also be posted at the Club.
(d) Should a member remain in arrears for any indebtedness for more than 60 days, the Board shall order that member’s expulsion from the Club. If such member is a Class A member, the Board of Governors also shall order the cancellation of his/her stock and no transfer of said stock by the person in default shall be recognized as a valid transfer, unless the transferee shall discharge the indebtedness. The stock certificate shall be issued in its place by the Club to anyone who may be elected a Class A member of the Club and who shall subscribe for the stock.
(e) Any member that may be in arrears for 30 days or more on more than one occasion during any calendar year, shall also be subject to expulsion from the Club.
Section 2. Lien of the Club on Stock
The Club shall have a lien upon the stock of each Class A member for all the dues and indebtedness of such member of the Club. [ ... back to top - bylaws ... ]
Section 1. Fiscal Year
The fiscal year of the Club shall commence January 1 and terminate December 31 of each year. [ ... back to top - bylaws ... ]
Section 1. Amendments
These Bylaws may be amended, added to or rescinded at any annual or special meeting of the members at which there is a quorum present, by affirmative vote of sixty percent of the members voting, notice of the proposed amendment, addition or rescission having been mailed to each member at least fifteen (15) days prior to such meeting. RULES
In accordance with the Bylaws of Saginaw Country Club, Inc., the Board of Governors has adopted and will enforce the following rules, and has established the following dues, fees, and assessments.
1. Candidates for membership in any classification shall be proposed by not less than two (2) members or
the spouse who shall submit a written recommendation. The Board of Governors shall act on such
proposals in accordance with the Bylaws.

1. Any Class A member shall be entitled to change his/her membership to any other classification, for which he/she is eligible, upon the sale or transfer of his/her stock in accordance with the Bylaws and upon election to such other classification in accordance with the Bylaws.
2. Approved candidates for Class “A” Membership shall be entitled to purchase stock held by the Club in the following order of preference, provided the Board of Governors elects to transfer such stock:
a) Junior,
b) Other Class “B” Members
c) Other
3. Approved candidates for Class “B” Membership shall be elected in the following order of preference:
a) Former Class “A” Members
b) Former Class “B” Members

HOURS
1. The clubhouse will open daily at 7:30 A.M. during the in season and 9:00 A.M. during the off season, with the exception of Mondays when the clubhouse will be closed. (Off season is from October 1st to April 30th)
2. On Mondays, the locker rooms will be open from 12:00 noon until 9:00 P.M. in season.
3. Should a legal holiday fall on a Monday during the months of May through September, the clubhouse will be open on a Sunday schedule.
4. The clubhouse will close no later than the time prescribed by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.

The Executive Dining Room, Main Dining Room, Terrace Room, Formal Dining Room and Club Room will be available to members for private parties on application to the Club Manager; subject to availability of facilities, and established procedures and policies concerning the conduct of guests and payment of statements for charges incurred on such occasions.

GUESTS
1. Use of the Club facilities shall be limited to the members and their guests. Use of the dining facilities by members and their guests is encouraged at all times, except for those occasions which are reserved exclusively for members. There are no restrictions on the number of guests a member may invite to enjoy the clubhouse facilities.
2. Members are required to register their guests at the pro shop for golf, at the swimming pool for swimming, and at the tennis courts for tennis. It shall be the duty of the member to accompany or play with such member’s guest.
3. Members will be held responsible for any damages or removal of Club property by guests or any other person for whom the member is accountable.
4. Members are responsible for debts incurred by their guests.
5. No cash will be received, except at such places as maybe approved by the Board of Governors.
6. Only charge privileges will be allowed to members of GAM (Golf Association of Michigan) USGA (United States Golf Association) and other clubs with established reciprocal agreements, as approved by the Board of Governors. In addition to the guests signature, the name and address of the club must be printed on the chit. Reciprocal clubs are defined as those approved full service clubs that are GAM members, and any other such clubs that allow Saginaw Country Club members like use of their facilities. A member of a reciprocal club is entitled to charge privileges at the Saginaw Country Club.
7. Each Bridge Club member is entitled to an unlimited number of guests per season, who reside in or outside of Saginaw County. Each guest is allowed to play twice a month, except for members of Clubs who enjoy reciprocal privileges.
8. The Ladies Bridge Association is responsible for electing a president to administer the required responsibilities.
9. Each guest is requested to have lunch at Saginaw Country Club on the day they are playing bridge.
10. The Country Club allows single members to name a “significant other.” This option is available to Class A and B Membership classifications, EXCEPT those specifically designated as “SINGLE” and subject to Board approval. A member can nominate a significant other one time per calendar year. It cannot be changed during the year.
With regard to Class A members, the significant other may play golf, but only with the member. There is no charge to the member for the significant other playing golf. The significant other has use of all the facilities, but only with the member. The privileges do not extend to children of the significant other. The significant other may not charge on the account of the member.
Class B members may have significant others. The significant other has all use of the facility generally available to the Class B member without guest fee charges. The privilege of the use of the Club does not extend to children of the significant other nor may the significant other charge on the account of the member. [ ... back to top - rules ... ]
RESERVATIONS
1. To insure the maximum enjoyment of facilities and to provide efficient service and sufficient menu items, your advance reservations will be most appreciated. When making reservations for all Club parties, members will specify the names of all persons in their group.
2. Reservation for Club parties, including special member parties, may be cancelled without charge twenty-four (24) hours prior to the affair. Full pre-arranged costs will be charged if members or guests do not cancel reservation.
3. Seating arrangements will be made by the Club Manager, or Dining Room Manager, in the order reservations are received and according to limitations of space.
4. Club Cancellation Policy (Effective January 1, 2005): All reservations made for any club event and not cancelled a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the published start time for the event will be subject to 1/2 charge of the event. An emergency situation may be exempt from this charge if details are received by the club manager within 2 days following the scheduled event. Decisions made by the Board and Management are final. TIPPING

CHILDRENS’ RULES
1. Children under sixteen (16) years of age, whether they are qualified golfers or not, will not be permitted in, nor the use of, the locker room, card room, or showers at any time, unless accompanied by their parent.
2. Sons and daughters of members sixteen (16) to eighteen (18) years of age are permitted to use the men’s and ladies’ locker rooms only for changing clothes and use of the showers.
3. Children, under sixteen (16) years of age, are permitted to use the Club Room only, when accompanied by an adult member.
4. All children under eight (8) years of age must remain in constant care of an adult during their entire stay at the Club and will not be permitted to roam about the clubhouse and grounds.
5. Alcoholic beverages will not be served, nor consumed, by persons under twenty-one (21) years of age, nor are such persons permitted to order any alcoholic beverage from the service personnel.
6. The Club Manager shall have the authority to deny the privileges of the Club to any minor for unbecoming conduct.
7. Persons under eighteen (18) years of age will not be permitted to play cards at the Club.

LOCKER ROOMS
1. Locker room services will not be available after 9:00 P.M., except on special occasions as may be authorized by the house, golf or entertainment chairperson.
2. Golf bags, clubs and pull carts shall not be stored in the locker rooms, on top of lockers or inside of lockers. Said items found in these areas will be moved to the pro shop for proper storage under the supervision of the golf professional.

GENERAL RULES
1. The Club assumes no responsibility for loss or damage of personal property of any member or guest.
2. Club employees are not permitted to do personal work, or leave the Club premises on personal errands for members, during their regular working hours.
3. Members may not reprimand any employee of the Club. In case of discourtesy or lack of service, complaints should be made to the Club Manager or to the House Chairperson in writing. Similar incidents on the golf course or in the pro shop should be reported to the Green Chairperson or to the Golf Chairperson. Individuals violating this rule shall be subject to the actions of the Board of Governors.
4. Club property shall not be removed from the Club’s premises, except for Club catered events.
5. Members are required to park their automobiles in the designated parking spaces. No parking will be permitted in fire lanes, no parking areas, and unloading zones. Speeds of 10 mph on the Club grounds shall be observed.
6. Posting of notices on the Club premises must first be submitted to the Club Manager, who will forward this request for approval to the officers of the club.
7. Members children may not be employed by the Club in any capacity.
8. Males, fourteen (14) years of age or older are encouraged to wear jackets after 6:00 P.M, on weekends and holidays.
9. The Club Manager is fulfilling one of the duties of his/her position, when calling any violation of Club rules or misconduct to the attention of members or guests. Continued violation of any Club rules of etiquette and courtesy must be reported by the Club Manager to the appropriate committee and to the Board of Governors.
10. Cut-offs, gym shorts, blue jeans, T-shirts, and hats are not deemed to be appropriate attire for use in the clubhouse.
11. Short or long sleeved collared shirts of an opaque material are required for gentlemen in the clubhouse.

TENNIS REGULATIONS
1. ALL members must register on a master sign-in sheet at the tennis facility at their start of each day’s play; and include their time of arrival and their membership number. Their out of town guests shall also be registered at this time and the member is obligated to sign a chit for the appropriate guest fee, as listed under the Dues, Fees and Assessments Section.
2. Courts may be reserved by court number. The bulletin board and register book are at the tennis facility. Reservations will be accepted one day in advance. Reservations are restricted to one and one-half hours play for doubles and one hour for singles. Ten minutes tardy, the court may be given away.
3. The tennis pro and/or instructor will be available for instructions and regular lessons by appointment. Fees for their services have been approved by the Tennis Committee.
4. No person shall distract or interfere with the players while a match is in progress.
5. Loud and boisterous conduct or profanity will not be tolerated, and at the discretion of the tennis pro and/or instructor, offenders may be required to leave the courts.
6. Non-playing children will not be permitted in the court enclosure at any time.
7. Food and beverage consumption shall be confined to the designated areas.
8. No member or guest shall reprimand any employee. Complaints and suggestions may be made only in writing to the Board of Governors and must be signed by the member.
9. The U.S. Tennis Association Rules shall apply to all play, except where modified by the Club Tennis Committee.
10. Tennis Chairperson and Committee may change designated days and times to accommodate tournaments or special events.

SWIMMING POOL - The sanitation and safety rules of the State of Michigan will be strictly enforced. The Swimming Pool Committee, Club Manager, Pool Director or Lifeguards and Attendants are responsible for the enforcement of rules and for maintaining all sanitary and safety precautions.
The Swimming Pool Committee shall make, publish and post all rules and regulations in connection with the use of the pool and dressing rooms. All authorized personnel will be responsible and have complete authority to enforce all pool regulations. Pool privileges may be denied to those who do not follow regulations. Therefore, make sure all members of your family are familiar with these regulations.
1. Only qualified members, their families and registered guests are entitled to use the pool during designated hours. Guests may use the pool during open swim periods. Guests must be accompanied by a member, who-will be required to sign a chit for the guest fee. All members and guests must register on a master sign-in sheet at the Pool Office and include members number. Members are requested to acquaint their guests with pool regulations. 2. The Saginaw Country Club, the Pool Committee and the Lifeguards assume no responsibility for the safety of anyone using the pool or the theft and damage of personal property.
3. Use of the pool by adult members is encouraged. Upon reasonable notice, the pool directors will be glad to make arrangements for exclusive adult swimming.
4. Only persons in proper swimming attire are permitted within the swimming pool area. Persons in swimming attire are not permitted in the clubhouse, other than in locker rooms.
5. Private Parties and Fees: Upon application by a member, the pool may be used for special parties, “Splash Parties,” provided arrangements are made with the Club Manager. The Pool Director, Manager and/or the Lifeguards can establish and enforce such rules as, in their opinion, safety may require.
1. No one is permitted to use the pool unless a Lifeguard is present.
2. To use the diving board, a swimmer must qualify by swimming the length of the pool and demonstrate the ability to float and tread water satisfactorily.
3. Non-swimmers must stay in shallow end of pool at all times.
4. Running around concourse, pushing, tag games and dunking are strictly prohibited.
5. Youngsters using the wading pool must be supervised by a responsible person.
6. Swimmers and older children may not use wading pool.
7. No food or drinks with alcohol are allowed at pool. Use Terrace outside of pool area for consumption of food or beverage.
8. Use of the wading pool shall be limited to children under five (5) years of age. Older children should use the shallow end of the large pool, unless they have passed their swimming examination. At all times, the wading pool shall be under the direction and supervision of the Pool Director and Lifeguards. A parent or responsible adult of the child using the wading pool must be present at all times.
9. All children under four (4) years of age are restricted to the wading pool only and must be supervised and cared for by a parent or responsible adult. All children who use the wading pool must be at least two (2) years of age, out of diapers and trained, or have a swim diaper on. Parents are requested to use good judgement in taking children into wading pool. Baby buggies, strollers and playpens will not be permitted at poolside.
10. No person shall throw any coin or article whatsoever into the swimming pool. Beach balls, rafts, tubes and similar paraphernalia are prohibited.
11. No member or guest shall reprimand any employee. Complaints and suggestions may be made only in writing to the Board of Governors and must be signed by the member.
12. Everyone using the pool facilities is required to put ones own refuse into the receptacles provided for this purpose.
13. Adults will always have preference for the use of furniture in the pool area.

SANITATION REGULATIONS
1. Before entering pool a thorough bath (without suit) must he taken with soap and water, followed by a thorough rinse.
2. Persons with colds, skin eruptions, inflamed eyes or similar infections must be refused admittance.
3. Spitting, chewing gum, spouting water, blowing nose, or otherwise polluting the water is prohibited.
4. Suntan oil and skin creams must be removed before entering pool. (Please note - only lotion and oils in unbreakable containers will be permitted within the pool concourse.)

GOLF COURSE REGULATIONS
GOLF RULES
The rules of the United States Golf Association shall govern all play, except as modified by local rules.
1. All players are required to replace divots, to rake sand traps and to repair ball marks on the greens. The hitting of practice balls from the fairways, from the sand traps or to the greens is expressly prohibited.
2. Members and guests are to observe the rights and orders adjoining property owners .
3. Four-ball matches shall have the right-of-way over all other matches on weekends, Thursdays, and holidays. Foursomes are urged at all times, if available.
4. No groups larger than a foursome allowed without permission from the Golf Professional.
5. Only dues paying members, and their spouses that are in good standing, are eligible to play in Club Tournaments.
6. Any non-scheduled group play must have prior Board of Governors approval.
7. No one using the driving range shall hit a ball over the fence. A member is responsible for his/her guests and family members with regard to violations of the rule. A first violation of this rule will result in immediate loss of range privileges for thirty days for the member, his/her guests and family members. A second violation of this rule will result in loss of golfing privileges for the member, his/her guests and family members for the remainder of the calendar year during which the violation occurs. Additional violations may result in expulsion from the Saginaw Country Club.
8. When the warning system for lightning goes off (solid tone), all players shall immediately seek cover. Please note this is NOT AN OPTION and all people playing golf shall immediately stop playing golf until the lightning has CLEARED (intermittent tone). [ ... back to top - rules ... ]

3. Tee times are used weekends and Holidays during the season, (June, July & August). Consult the Pro Shop.

The rules of golf and golf etiquette should be well known and observed by every golfer. The code for correct behavior is a pleasant one, easily understood and designed for the all-around enjoyment of the game. Several principles of golf etiquette are as follows:
1. That no one should move, talk or stand close to, or directly behind, the ball or the hole when a player is making a stroke.
2. That the player who has the honor should be allowed to tee off before his/her opponent tees off.
3. That no player should play until the player(s) in front is out of range.
4. That when the result of a hole has been determined, players should immediately leave the putting green and the area adjacent to the green.
5. That players, while looking for a lost ball, shall adhere to the five minute rule, should allow other matches coming to pass them; that they should signal to the players following them to pass; and that upon having given such a signal, they should not continue their play until the players have passed and are out of range.
6. That a player should see that any divot cut or displaced by him/her is at once replaced and pressed down and all ball marks or greens be repaired before putting out.
7. That players, or their caddies, must carefully rake all sand traps after use.
8. That players should see that they, or their caddies, do not injure the holes by walking or standing close to them, or when removing or replacing the flag-stick.
9. That players should at all times play without undue delay. It is recommended that a round of golf shall not exceed 4 hours and 15 minutes.

GOLF GUESTS
1. Each Class A member, or member of his or her family, is entitled to have any combination of six (6) guests per season who reside in Saginaw County. For example: Six (6) for the Class A member or three (3) for the Class A member and three (3) for the spouse or children.
2. Guests living outside of Saginaw County will be limited to fourteen (14) rounds of play during the season, with the exception of the Invitational and Guest Days.
3. Each guest must register at the Pro Shop.
4. Except by special arrangement made in advance through the Golf Professional, a member must play with his or her guest(s).
5. A resident of Saginaw County may not be a guest of any member, or combination of members, more than three (3) times during the months of June, July and August, with the exception of the Invitational.
6. A Family Social member, Single Social member, Junior Social member, Junior Family Social member is entitled to play golf not more than (3) times during a calendar year, and is required to pay published green fees and cart fees, if a cart is desired. GOLF CARTS AND PULL CARTS
1. Golf Carts will be available on a first come, first served basis.
2. The Golf Course Superintendent, acting under the direction of the Green Committee, shall determine when golf carts may or may not be used on the course.
3. Golf carts at no time may be driven on or across tees, greens, aprons of greens, or within thirty (30) feet of the putting surface. Drivers should follow the route marked by golf cart arrows, cart paths and yellow lines. Golf carts must not be parked in front of the green while putting out, move carts to the side closest to next tee.
4. No golf carts should be driven on adjoining property owners’ yards.
5. No more than two (2) persons are permitted in a golf cart at any one time.
6. Not more than two (2) bags are permitted on a golf cart.

RULES APPLICABLE TO MEMBERS’ CHILDREN
A member’s child, for purposes of this section, is the son, daughter or ward of a Class A member.
1. A member’s child under the age of twelve (12) years is not permitted on the golf course unless accompanied by his or her parent or guardian. The golf course includes the practice range and the putting and chipping greens.
2. Regardless of the age of a member’s child, the child must demonstrate a knowledge of golf etiquette and the rules of golf. The child must also demonstrate play competency, so as to prevent damage to the course and to avoid unduly slow play.
3. All children must have a valid driver’s license to drive a golf cart.
4. Prior to beginning play, a child must register in the Pro Shop. Those children having a high level of proficiency and thorough knowledge of the rules may be issued a red tag. Children less proficient will receive a blue tag. Such tags must be displayed on the child’s golf bag. The purposes of this rule are to promote among our children awareness of golf, both its enjoyment and the player’s responsibilities, to avoid congestion on the course, and to prevent the use of, and possible damage to the course by children and non members.
5. A member’s child is not permitted to invite guests to play golf without his/her parent’s authorization, in which case greens fees shall he charged to the parent and such guests shall count as guests of the parent.
6. All children using the golf course, including the putting greens and the practice range, must comply with the rules regarding attire.
7. A member’s child, twelve (12) years and older, is permitted on the golf course without his/her parent if:
a) The child observes the foregoing rules.
b) The child is proficient enough in the game of golf to be able to move along at a normal pace.
c) The child is able to hit the ball at each swing.
d) The child is able to observe the rules of golf at all times.
e) The child is able to observe the rules as to the maintenance of the course while playing.
8. The golfing proficiency of a child shall be determined by the Club Professional, whose judgement should not be questioned.
9. Children, even though accompanied by an adult, are to give way to faster playing adult members.
10. Members’ children who are not considered sufficiently proficient to play without adult supervision may accompany their parents during open play hours.
